Chairmans Report

Your committee is looking forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming meeting in Perth. Please mark the dates in your calendar - Thurs 28 to Sat 30 April 2011. The Perth organizing committee has great meeting venue and put together a varied program with a strong teaching component from our invited speakers. All of the invited speakers are keen to make the sessions interactive with the audience.

We have now passed the half way point between our annual meetings and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee for their efforts and thank our secretariat for another successful year. In particular I would like to thank Courtney Wort and Mark Richardson, and more recently Suzie Chan and from Key Conference Solutions for their professionalism and guidance over the last 18 months.

Our Annual Scientific Meeting in Melbourne in April 2010 attracted the largest registration ever! A highlight was the physics registrar teaching course held in parallel with the main program. This attracted more than 35 participants and the feedback received was very positive. Much credit is due to the wonderful organizing team with much thanks to Bronwyn Mathieson, Cath Beaufort and Ryan Smith, and to all those who gave generously of their time to give presentations, in particular Annette Haworth and Jeremy Millar.

The ABG will be represented on the organizing committee for the next World Congress of Brachytherapy to be held in Athens in May 2012, by Annette Haworth and Joseph Bucci, and I would like to thank both for their work.

We hope that members have enjoyed receiving our newsletters during the year, and we invite members to contribute articles, photos and news about events or people in their brachytherapy team for future newsletters.

Best wishes for the holiday season, and happy needling!
